Wave Mechanical


Many models of the atom have been created over decades. History

Louis Broglie, Werner Schrodinger, and Werner Heisenberg wer the three main creators for the quantum mechanical model using the wave equation.<ref> The Wave-Mechanical Atom. The most important part for the model is the electron map also called orbital's. The s orbital only has one orbital and can only hold two electrons. <ref>The Wave-Mechanical Atom. It became clear that the electons do not oribit around the nucleus, and that the electrons do not remain in the same area through alot of reasearch. in fact, electrons often disappear and then it seems like they appear again. With this information, scientists were able to come up with a map that has the basic ideas of were you could possibly. <ref>(2007). The quantum model has many different numbers; like N stands for the energy levels, M represents the sublevels, I stands for the orbitals, and S represents the orbital pairs. <ref> The Wave-Mechanical Atom. Scientists say that the quantum mechanical model is not a physical model of the atom, but more like a hologram. CITATION REQUIRED The model is similar to the solar system with the nucleus being the sun and all the electrons being the planets, but the planets do not orbit the sun as others might do.

The quantum mechanical model introduced the electrons configuration and the Lewis dots, but it also led to a whole new science sectioin called Quantum Mechanics which deals with behaviors of light in atomic and subatomic scales. Quantum mechanics helps us explain the properties of the components in an atom, such as the proton, neutron, and electron. The information that quantum mechanics gives us is sometimes hard to understand, so it's mostly based on your belief in science.

Quantum mechanics is studied today in hope to harmess all the electrons in the atom. No matter what, the quantum mechanical modelall began with simple model that gave scientists the first idea of the orbitals around the nucleus.
